Commissioner David Altmaier Addresses AFIR on ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ Climate and Resiliency Workstreams
On September 2, 2021, ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ President and Florida Insurance Commissioner David Altmaier participated virtually in the Asian Forum of Insurance Regulators' (AFIR) Annual Conference and Meeting. He spoke to representatives of over 20 jurisdictions, providing an update on the ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ's Climate and Resiliency Task Force and their ongoing work streams.
He shared with the group, the U.S. state insurance regulatory experience with regards to climate resiliency, highlighting the ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ's focus on the area as a core priority. Additionally, he discussed his experience of leading the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation through highly unpredictable weather seasons during the current pandemic.

As part of our state-based system of insurance regulation in the United States, the ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ (ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ) provides expertise, data, and analysis for insurance commissioners to effectively regulate the industry and protect consumers. The U.S. standard-setting organization is governed by the chief insurance regulators from the 50 states, the District of Columbia and five U.S. territories.
