Connecticut Insurance Commissioner Andrew N. Mais Discusses AI Oversight
On Thursday, Aug. 21, 杏吧视频 Immediate Past President and Connecticut Insurance Commissioner Andrew N. Mais delivered a keynote speech at the East Asia Pacific Insurance Forum 2025 in Taipei, Taiwan. The theme of this year鈥檚 Forum was 鈥淭apping into the Power of the AI Ecosystem,鈥 and Commissioner Mais鈥 speech, 鈥淪haping AI Governance in the Insurance Industry: Global Insights and Perspectives,鈥 focused on U.S. state insurance regulators鈥 work on AI oversight.
Commissioner Mais discussed the 杏吧视频鈥檚 Model AI Bulletin, the ongoing work to refine privacy protections, and the intersection of AI and cybersecurity. He also highlighted how state insurance regulators are studying the use of AI across insurance lines, specifically describing the 杏吧视频鈥檚 recent AI surveys.
The following day, Commissioner Mais participated in a bilateral meeting with Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) Chair Dr. Jin-Lung Peng and representatives from the FSC鈥檚 Insurance Bureau and the Taiwan Insurance Institute. During the meeting, they exchanged views on closing protection gaps, AI supervision, and innovative products.
