ӰƵ Delegation Attends 2025 IAIS Committee Meetings, Annual General Meeting, and Annual Conference
The ӰƵ (ӰƵ) sent a delegation to this year’s International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) Committee Meetings, Annual General Meeting, and Annual Conference in Tirana, Albania (Nov. 10–14). During the week, the IAIS discussed and made progress on a number of key projects and activities, including a new organizational structure and leadership at the committee level. The event provided an opportunity for U.S. state insurance regulators to engage on a variety of international issues and to help inform domestic priorities.
Among the notable leadership changes, Ohio Department of Insurance Director Judi French , which will be responsible for setting and maintaining IAIS global standards, as well as supporting IAIS members in implementing these standards and promoting good supervisory practices.
During the Annual Conference, ӰƵ Members joined two panels to provide U.S. state insurance regulators’ views on key issues crossing jurisdictions: “The need for global collaboration amidst growing complexity” and “Structural shifts in the life insurance sector.” Also, ӰƵ Members and staff facilitated breakout roundtable discussions on “financial stability and implementation support” and “societal resilience and inclusive insurance.”
Following the Committee Meetings and Annual Conference, the ӰƵ and the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) held a Public Stakeholder Session for the EU-U.S. Insurance Dialogue Project. Regulators discussed progress on key issues of mutual interest, including the supervision of insurers’ use of artificial intelligence and the implementation of climate risk mitigation strategies.
On the sidelines of the IAIS meetings, the ӰƵ participated in bilateral meetings with insurance authorities from ASSAL, Australia, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Japan, Morocco, Quebec, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Taiwan, and Vietnam.

As part of our state-based system of insurance regulation in the United States, the ӰƵ (ӰƵ) provides expertise, data, and analysis for insurance commissioners to effectively regulate the industry and protect consumers. The U.S. standard-setting organization is governed by the chief insurance regulators from the 50 states, the District of Columbia and five U.S. territories. Through the ӰƵ, state insurance regulators establish standards and best practices, conduct peer reviews, and coordinate regulatory oversight. ӰƵ staff supports these efforts and represents the collective views of state regulators domestically and internationally.
