Regulators Engage in a Virtual Dialogue with Financial Services Agency, Japan
On November 30, 2021, the ÐÓ°ÉÊÓƵ and FSA met virtually for the 15th biannual Insurance Regulatory Dialogue. Participants from ÐÓ°ÉÊÓƵ leadership included David Altmaier, ÐÓ°ÉÊÓƵ President and Commissioner, Florida Office of Insurance Regulation; Dean L. Cameron, ÐÓ°ÉÊÓƵ President-Elect and Director, Idaho Department of Insurance; Director Chlora Lindley-Myers, ÐÓ°ÉÊÓƵ Vice President and Director, Missouri Department of Commerce and Insurance; Andrew N. Mais, ÐÓ°ÉÊÓƵ Secretary-Treasurer and Commissioner, Connecticut Insurance Department; Gary D. Anderson, ÐÓ°ÉÊÓƵ International Insurance Committee Chair and Commissioner of the Massachusetts Division of Insurance; and, Michael F. Consedine, ÐÓ°ÉÊÓƵ Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The dialogue provided regulators from two of the largest insurance markets in the world to discuss strategic priorities on issues of mutual regulatory interest. The ÐÓ°ÉÊÓƵ provided updates on a variety of its initiatives, including climate and resilience, innovation and technology, the ÐÓ°ÉÊÓƵ liquidity stress testing, reinsurance, long-term care insurance, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I), and other priorities for the organization in 2022.
About the ÐÓ°ÉÊÓƵ
As part of our state-based system of insurance regulation in the United States, the ÐÓ°ÉÊÓƵ (ÐÓ°ÉÊÓƵ) provides expertise, data, and analysis for insurance commissioners to effectively regulate the industry and protect consumers. The U.S. standard-setting organization is governed by the chief insurance regulators from the 50 states, the District of Columbia and five U.S. territories. Through the ÐÓ°ÉÊÓƵ, state insurance regulators establish standards and best practices, conduct peer reviews, and coordinate regulatory oversight. ÐÓ°ÉÊÓƵ staff supports these efforts and represents the collective views of state regulators domestically and internationally.
