Ensuring State Law Compliance
We ensure insurance policy forms and rates comply with state laws and enforce state laws relating to company conduct.

We develop training programs and establish professional standards.
Protecting Consumer Interests
We manage extensive systems of peer-reviewed, multi-state oversight and accreditation programs and provide education, training and accreditation programs to regulators at all levels.

Ann Gillespie, Director
First appointed to lead the Illinois Department of Insurance in April 2024 by Gov. JB Pritzker, Director Gillespie was confirmed by the Illinois Senate on May 30, 2025. As a former Illinois state senator, Director Gillespie has extensive experience in managed health care and insurance. Prior to joining the Illinois General Assembly, she practiced health care law. She has held several leadership roles in the health care industry, including at CVS Caremark. Her leadership positions at the ÐÓ°ÉÊÓƵ include serving as chair of the Receivership and Insolvency (E) Task Force, co-vice chair of the Health Insurance and Managed Care (B) Committee, and vice chair of the Homeowners Market Data Call (C) Task Force. She earned a JD from DePaul University College of Law (Chicago, IL) and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
